[Sydney, Australia] – The International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) is proud to announce the appointment of H.E. Dr. Suwit Khunkitti, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand, as the Chairperson of the ISETS Advisory Committee.

With over 30 years of experience in the fields of natural resources and environment, H.E. Dr. Suwit brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the ISETS community. His appointment will provide invaluable support and guidance to the society as it works towards its mission of promoting the transition to a sustainable energy future.

“We are thrilled to welcome H.E. Dr. Suwit to the ISETS family. His experience and commitment to the energy transition will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of the society,” said Professor Roc Xunpeng Shi, ISETS President of the Executive Committee.

ISETS Council Chairperson Dr Xiansheng Sun added, “As a highly respected political leader with deep knowledge in the fields of energy, environment and climate change, we believe that Dr. Suwit’s expertise and leadership would bring invaluable insights and guidance to our organization.”

H.E. Dr. Suwit stated, “ISETS is a timely initiative, with a worthy cause. It will be my privilege to serve as the Chairperson of its Advisory Committee.”

H.E. Dr. Suwit’s appointment is a testament to the importance of international collaboration in addressing the global energy transition. The ISETS Advisory Committee, under his leadership, will play a critical role in ensuring that the society continues to make significant contributions to the energy transition discourse.

ISETS is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the transition to a just, inclusive and sustainable energy future. With members from over 50 countries, ISETS works towards its mission through a combination of research, education, and outreach activities.

ISETS, in partnership with the Energy Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), is organising the Inaugural ISETS International Conference on 14-19 October 2023 at the United Nations Conference Center, Bangkok. The Conference will be followed by the Third Asia Pacific Energy (Ministerial) Forum on 18-20 October 2023 and together they form key parts of the Asia Pacific Energy Week. The key findings and recommendations from the ISETS conference are expected to be channelled to the subsequent ministerial forum.

Researchers and practitioners who are interested in sharing their knowledge are welcome to submit their abstracts. Several special issues have been secured in leading journal including Applied Energy (IF: 11.466, JCR:Q1), Frontiers in Environmental Science (IF: 5.411, JCR: Q2) and Frontiers in Energy Research (IF: 3.858, JCR: Q3).
