General Meeting

The First ISETS Annual General Meeting Held on 15 January 2021

The International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) held its first (virtual) Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 8 pm (UTC+10) on 15 January 2020, following its official launch establishment on 16 June 2020. The AGM approved the ISETS Constitution, elected the ISETS Council and Executive Committee.

The Society was jointly established by thirty one (31) Founding Members from thirteen (13) countries and seven (7) international institutions such as Asian Development Bank (ADB), Economic Research Institute for East Asia (ERIA) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The Society is an independent, non-profit, membership-based global organisation for the academic, business, government, and other professionals concerned with energy transition. It aims to facilitate an equitable and inclusive transition of energy and relevant sectors toward a sustainable low-carbon future with consideration of economic development, social equity, and environmental stewardship through international partnerships.

The immediate past Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum (IEF), Dr Xiansheng Sun, was elected Council Chairman of the Society. Dr Sun was the IEF Secretary-General from August 2016 to July 2020. Prior to his IEF appointment, Dr Sun was the President of the Economics and Technology Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the only company-affiliated national think-thank in China. Dr Sun has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Dr Sun currently serves as Vice President and Director General of Energy Industry Cooperation Committee, China Council for International Investment Promotion. Dr Sun holds an LLM and PhD from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom.
