On July 15, 2025, the divisional finals of the 2nd ISETS-ESCAP & 3rd ISETS Global Competition of Youth Voice on Energy Transition, jointly organized by the International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asian and the Pacific (ESCAP), concluded successfully. After intense competition, eight youth teams from five global regions secured their spots in the global finals with outstanding innovation and sustainable energy transition solutions.

This year’s competition received 105 valid submissions from teams worldwide. To ensure fairness and regional representation, the organizing committee strictly adhered to the United Nations regional classification standards, considering the geographical distribution of projects and regional balance principles. Participants were divided into five regions: African, East Asian, Europe/Oceania/North America & Mixed Regions, South Asian, and Southeast Asian & West Asian.

Following rigorous evaluations by a judging panel composed of global energy experts and final approval by the organizing committee, ten outstanding teams advanced to the regional first-prize final interview round. During the presentation session on July 11, nine teams showcased the technical highlights and application prospects of their innovative projects. Ultimately, eight teams demonstrated exceptional performance, earning regional first prizes and securing their places in the global finals.

Global Finals & Youth Dialogue: Co-Creating a Blueprint for a Sustainable Energy Future

On September 2, 2025, the finalist teams will convene in Bangkok, Thailand, at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) to take part in the Global Finals and Youth Dialogue. As a key highlight of the “2025 Asia-Pacific Energy Week” (September 1–5), the event is also part of the official program for the United Nations International Youth Day 2025. Bringing together young innovators and regional youth organizations from around the world, it offers a unique platform to showcase youth-led innovations and foster strategic dialogue on accelerating the energy transition across the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are delighted to witness the wisdom and passion of global youth in driving energy transition,” the organizing committee stated collectively. “These innovative projects reflect the unique perspectives and strong commitment of the younger generation in addressing energy challenges.”
