Announcing the 2024 ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Competition Division Finalists!

Sydney, Australia – 14 September 2024 – The Organising Committee of the 2024 ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Competition, a partnership between the International

Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the preliminary round of the 2024 ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Competition!

The ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Competition is a global platform designed to empower young people to contribute to the energy transition. It encourages participants to present innovative ideas, technologies, and solutions that address challenges related to sustainability and the transition to low-carbon energy systems. The competition is open to youth teams from around the world, offering them the opportunity to showcase their creativity and engage in global dialogue on sustainable energy, with the winners advancing to prestigious events and forums.

This year’s competition attracted submissions from approximately 300 participants, including mentors and supervisors, across 77 teams from 37 countries. To ensure balanced regional representation, participants were divided into five divisions: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Mixed Regions and Others.

A total of 24 teams were shortlisted, with 10 from Northeast Asia, 4 from Southeast Asia, 3 from South Asia, 4 from Africa, and 3 from Mixed Regions & Others. For more details on the finalists and the evaluation process, please refer to the event website at: https://isets.org/youth-competition-2024/.

The 24 shortlisted teams are now invited to prepare a video presentation, which will add up to 15 points to their final score. This score will be combined with their previous evaluations to determine their placement within their respective divisions. Prizes will be awarded based on the teams’ final scores in each division.

The division winners will then advance to the global competition and will be invited to participate in the prestigious Youth Dialogue at the UN ESCAP Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, during the International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development from December 2-4, 2024.

The Organising Committee extends its warmest congratulations to the division finalists, and encourages those who were not selected this year to continue their outstanding efforts and return for next year’s competition.
