ISETS and UN ESCAP Launch Global Youth Voice Competition and Youth Dialogue Program

[Sydney, 30 March 2024] – The International Society for Energy Transition Studies (ISETS) is thrilled to announce its partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) for initiating an Annual Youth Voice on Energy Transition Program.

ISETS and ESCAP successfully collaborated on the inaugural ISETS International Conference, which took place during the Asia Pacific Energy Week in October 2023. The event featured a Youth Competition and Youth Dialogue.

Building on this successful collaboration, the new partnership seeks to establish a regular platform for young innovators and thinkers. This partnership underscores the shared recognition of the critical role youth play as agents of change in addressing global challenges, including climate change, peace, and sustainable development.

Program Highlights

The program is set to amplify youth engagement and innovation in addressing critical issues related to the energy transition, aligning with the United Nations Secretary-General’s commitment to youth engagement in global matters. From 2024 to 2026, the program will focus on different themes within the energy transition, ensuring comprehensive coverage of this multifaceted issue.

The program includes two main activities:

  • Global Competition of Youth Voice:A central feature that offers young individuals worldwide the chance to showcase their innovative ideas, technologies, products, projects, and solutions aimed at achieving sustainable energy systems.
  • Youth Dialogue:Winners from the Competition will engage in dialogues at ESCAP Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, alongside scheduled energy-related meetings, offering a unique opportunity to influence policy and strategy.

Participation in the competition and dialogue is free, with efforts made to ensure diversity, inclusiveness, and broad representation.

A Collaborative Effort for Sustainable Futures

This partnership between ISETS and ESCAP reflects a shared commitment to fostering youth participation in the energy sector. It opens avenues for collaboration with other UN agencies. ISETS welcomes partners to contribute to this initiative, adhering to UN protocols.

We are excited to partner with ESCAP for the Annual Youth Voice on Energy Transition Program. ISETS
